We are sad to report that Chaps has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. He brightened the lives of those who spent time with him and he will be missed.

“It pains us terribly to let you know that Chaps passed away on June 24th. It was a combination of blastomycosis, bloat and perforated lungs. He just didn’t have the strength to fight any more.

It’s unbelievable how Chaps bonded to us and became part of our lives. We were blessed with him for only 100 days. They were the best of days for us, and we hope they were for him, also. He was an important part of our lives and our family.

My idea of heaven is having my wife and myself and all of our animals together, all of us at the peak of our mental and physical abilities. I hope I have a chance to see him again.”

Sadly, Smokey passed over the rainbow bridge on February 23, 2010.   This gentle boy had not had a rough life before he came into our care. He was not on heartworm prevention, so unfortunately, he was Heartworm positive and had begun to go through HW treatment.  However, due to his advanced heartworm disease, his body systems began to fail, and ultimately suffered renal failure prior to passing.  As we think about Smokey, we remember the short period that we were able to provide a loving environment. He was surrounded by friends when he passed over the rainbow bridge.

Scout was a big, beautiful, silver Weim who’s family was deployed to Iraq, when he arrived at Animal Control.  His exhuberance for life and his “people” were felt by everyone who came in contact with him.  We will miss him and his smile!

Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped pull you from the shelter, who transported you, and who were there with you in your final moments. Thank you Atlanta Pet Rescue.

Not until I experienced rescue was I able to fully comprehend the meaning of tortured souls. All of us. All of them. Wegman didn’t deserve to end up this way.

God bless you, Wegman. We will see you on the other side, sweet boy.

In loving memory of Sawyer….a true joy that came quickly into and out of our lives, but made a lasting impression. He had a special spirit about him that captured the hearts of all. He taught us a deeper meaning of love and compassion, responsibility and caring. For that we are grateful. Through the good days and the bad, he always had a sparkle in those sweet amber eyes and a wagging tail. He was happy, we were happy and we’re going to miss our “Soybean”.

Thanks to all who worked so hard to save him. He had a support group that spanned many miles, and he couldn’t have been more loved.

See you on the other side sweet pea.

We will all miss you, sweet boy…bless you.  Rest in peace…

I moved to Denver right out of college and knew not a soul. A few months after moving there I saw Bella in a puppy store and couldn’t leave the store without her. Bella was my best pal through some very rough times in my life…it was just the two of us. I got her when she was 6 weeks old and lived with her in Denver CO until she was 9. When I moved here to Atlanta I let my parents take care of her until I got settled so that she wouldn’t have to endure the stress of moving. My parents have 2 other Weimies so she fit in very well…so well that I decided to let her stay in FL with them as my mother was home all day and their little boy Bo and Bella became best friends. I couldn’t take her away from the life she had now formed with them. She loved life…especially rolling in anything that smelled rotten or decayed (I know…just lovely). She loved our hikes in the Rocky Mountains and our runs on the trails in the open space around the house. Her favorite was red licorice and in a close second came peanut butter. She loved her car rides and rolling in dying grass as it scratched her back oh so nicely! Bella was loved and lived a very happy life. She will be greatly missed!
