Gemma Marie is a beautiful silver gray girl (DOB 1/11/14) with a docked tail. Gemma came to rescue after being dropped at a Tennessee shelter with her brother and two sisters (who have since been adopted). Once the dogs were settled at our GA vet, we noticed that Gemma was much heavier than her siblings, so we decided to do an xray…guess what? Gemma Marie was pregnant. On Dec. 9, 2017, Gemma Marie gave birth to 11 adorable puppies, however, only 8 puppies survived. All of the puppies have been adopted.  Now it’s Gemma Marie’s turn to find her forever home. However, now Gemma Marie must endure painful heartworm treatment and be spayed once she’s well enough. Gemma Marie has been in an amazing foster home since right before Thanksgiving and has become very attached to her foster mom, and she became extremely protective of her puppies. Before the puppies were delivered, Gemma Marie did well with strangers and we are hoping she will once again be a happy, social and well adjusted lady that loves to go on long walks. Gemma Marie is housebroken, and is okay in a crate for up to 6 hours while her foster mom works. She adores attention from her human and since she was housed with her siblings prior to coming into rescue, we believe she will be okay with submissive other dogs. Gemma Marie will start heartworm treatment on 2/26 and will be ready for her forever home at the end of March, 2018. If you would like to give Gemma Marie a chance to know what a wonderful life she could have after being used as a breeding dog, submit an application and let’s talk…

The AWCR uses a common process in its rescue program. Read about our Adoption Process procedures.

We are an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. If you wish to make a donation, please use our online giving page.

Of course, financial assistance is typically our greatest need because of the costs encountered with rescuing our beautiful gray & blue friends ($300 per dog on average). But, there are several other ways for you to contribute to the ongoing efforts of the Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue.

Is Gemma still available? We are faced with putting down our weim and I am truly struggling with the decision. I know she cannot be replaced but I am struggling to find peace somehow.
