Mattie is a petite, adorable girl that is approx. 3 yrs old. Mattie was picked up as a stray and was spayed on 10/8/18. Mattie is doing great in her foster home and is currently gaining weight and getting healthy. Mattie is, unfortunately, heartworm positive and will begin heartworm treatment on Nov. 1 and will be available for adoption on approx. Dec. 1 (after 30 days quiet).

Update from Mattie’s foster mom: She is so excited about meal time now, and very happy to be near her people! That means hopping and pouncing when she’s happy, but still very skittish with loud noises or leash walking. She loves people, but does cower when you make a fuss over her! Acts like we’re going to spank her, groveling low on the ground, very submissive. She’s a little puppy-like, chewing on hard anything (table legs or bones!), but one command of “No!” And she stops. Loves her crate, weighs only 45 lbs, very tiny and petite! Mattie wants to play with my older Weim, but was overwhelmed by many dogs together at the dog park. She seems housebroken, although 6 hours in the crate seems to be her bladder limit. “Precious” sums up her personality!!

The AWCR uses a common process in its rescue program. Read about our Adoption Process procedures.

We are an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. If you wish to make a donation, please use our online giving page.

Of course, financial assistance is typically our greatest need because of the costs encountered with rescuing our beautiful gray & blue friends ($300 per dog on average). But, there are several other ways for you to contribute to the ongoing efforts of the Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue.
